White T-Shirt; The wardrobe staple that goes with everything anytime

The white t-shirt is often overlooked as simply a basic wardrobe staple, but pair it with jeans and nothing is more iconic.

It has long moved past being no more than an undershirt (though still useful as one) and is front and center as a focal point of an outfit.

The torontoShopoholic dishes on who makes the best t-shirts at every price point.

Women's Tees & Tops

James Perse

The White t-shirt has gone upsale and luxurious with whathas to offer.

The perfect relaxed cut, neckline and softness. But it will cost you. Luxury has a price.

Many think it is worth it however making this California retailer a favourite with celebrities and Holywood types.

Similar brands Three dots or try the Toronto based Shared (a portion of the proceeds go to charity!)

Club Monaco

Club Monaco isn't nececessarily somewhere you think to shop for t-shirts anymore.

The chain has been more focused on fashionable separtes in recent years. But look harder the white t shirt still lurks there.

And when you find it the tee will be soft and thin, great for layering!

Similar brands Banana Republic (look for their organic blends)

American Apparel

American Apparel is all about t shirts. And they have MANY different blends and styles.

My favourite is the tri blend tee shirt. Not exactly luxury jersey but soft and comfy just the same.

More a top for weekend comfort than an upscale night out.

Similar brands Gap (try the Gap Body section for tissue tees)

Roots

Roots mostly has novelty tees or logo tees, but look a little deeper in the racks and you will find a great, logoless tee made of organic cotton.

Joe Fresh

From they guy who brought us Club Monaco is the ultra cheap Joe Fresh. Joes tees are functional but are unlikely to be the focal point of an outfit.

You don't get a luxury tee for 10 bucks or less but you do get something functional.

Save these for layering under sweaters or dress shirts.

Similar brands Hanes, Old Navy

I pretty much have some sort of cotton tee on every day whether working or casual.

And I found that for me the best necklines are v-neck or scoop as it elongates my frame.

Aside from jeans I seem to collect white tees!
