Practicalmum's Five Fabulous Finds for February.

Practicalmum's picks are great for Moms, Grandparents and kids alike!

Though it feels like a lifetime, you are really only pregnant for a nanosecond of history.

However that nanosecond requires an astonishing amount of clothing.

Play clothes, work clothes... and at a time when budgeting for baby is key - getting hit with the maternity wardrobe bill can be overwhelming.

Enter Angela Lam and the Second Peek Maternity Boutique. Launched in December 2009, Angela created peekmaternity because "[she] really wanted to find an inexpensive option for expectant mothers to look chic while pregnant without having to spend excessive amounts of money for clothes you can wear for only a few months." Smart woman.

Shop for great styles and fantastic labels to dress your bump in a a killer wardrobe for a totally reasonable price. Want to sell your maternity clothes? Visit the sell/consign section of her website for details.

Being a huge canvasser of making children as independent as possible, this site and their products caught my eye immediately.

Happy Helperz is a brand new company that makes products that help moms. But more importantly, it helps to shape kids into the right kind of helpers we all dream of - happy and independent ones.

Happy Helperz fosters independence by empowering kids to do things on their own. That, in turn, builds self-esteem, confidence and happy children who help their mom. Check out the self-set placemat, the backpack buddy and the tidy toy labels. Fantastic new products!

If you are ever in Mt Pleasant Village in Toronto, you must pop into bean sprout.

Owner Trish Haddad opened her doors in 1995 as a designer resale shop for children - based on the success of the store and the desire to offer customers an extensive selection of unique clothing, bean sprout began selling only new items in 2006.

Carrying more than 70 labels, you will absolutely find what you’re looking for - whether it’s everyday clothing with a twist, a pretty dress for that special occasion, a cool shirt for your son, shoes or pj’s.

There is also a great selection of unique gift items including layette for babies, musical jewelery boxes, special toys, and silver jewelery.

I know you can buy water bottles for your kids anywhere. There are loads of different styles and looks - but check out the awesome factor of these individualized bottles: the individual designs, the name, the look, the WOW factor... I can't get enough of them!

So who are Kathy and Kim? They are two Canadian women who met through their oldest children about 7 years ago and quickly formed a fantastic friendship, as did their boys!

Over the years this friendship grew to include all the members of Kathy and Kim's families. Together, they aim to create funky yet functional products for the whole family.

Kathy and Kim strive to bring you only the best quality water bottles, clothing, bags and so much more.

Kathy and Kim offer eco friendly water bottles, t's, bags and accessories that are all personalized with names, sayings and designs that are as special as the person who receives them!

Each piece is custom designed and made for...YOU! Simply choose the item you want as well as the colours, fonts and designs and they will create an original piece just for you.

Important facts:

* the water bottles are all aluminum and are all FDA approved, BPA and BPH free.

* the travel mugs are stainless steel and are also FDA approved and BPA and BPH free.

* the other mugs they carry are ceramic and are all safe

There has been one saving grace this winter. The Smitten. A what?

A Smitten. They are a no escape-mitten. Seriously, they are fantastic, my daughter has not been able to shake them off yet.

She has finally accepted that she is wearing mittens in the cold. I highly recommend them.

January Baby is a new Canadian company - you should check them out. They have a load of winter gear for kids, all very functional and cozy and... really cute too. I have now placed several orders for various items and their service is top notch. Props to them!
