Toronto Shopping Malls, Toronto's indoor retail neighbourhoods!
If you are coming from out of town Toronto shopping malls are a must visit if only for the increased store offerings from those outside the city. Plus on a rainy day you can head inside and still get your Toronto shopping fix. And some of Toronto's malls are as upscale as the best shopping neighbourhoods in the city! My tip if you don't like crowds, head to the malls first thing in the morning, crowds start to build around the noon hour.
Eaton CenterThe tourists favourite Toronto shopping mall, everyone has heard of the Eaton Center. Located downtown between Dundas & Queen, the Eaton Center has all the typical mall stores and more. With 3 levels of stores & two food courts spanning two subway stops,
Photo courtesy of Steve Harris the whole day can be spent shopping here! My rule of thumb, although there are exceptions to the rule, is that the basement stores are the most affordable moving to the third floor with the more expensive stores. Visit their website:

YorkdaleProbably the second most famous of the Toronto shopping malls,
Yorkdale
is the polished older sister to the Eaton Center. With Holt Renfrew, Coach, Crate & Barrel, Banana Republic ... I could go on and on. While there isn't very many differences in the store offerings compared to the Eaton Center, Yorkdale has a more upscale feel. Visit their website:

Vaughan MillsVaughan Mills is Toronto's answer to outlet shopping. Found just north of the city, Vaughan Mills is huge and has something for everyone. Don't be fooled by Bass Pro, Vaughan Mills is all about clothes! Check out the Banana Republic Factory store, Holt Renfrew Last Call & Stylesense for shoes. Don't get overwhelmed, try shopping this mall in sections or pick and choose stores to visit instead of trying to do everything. For those of you from Toronto check out the new shuttle starting May 2009 from Young Dundas square! Visit their website:

The Shops at Don MillsThe Shops at Don Mills is the new kid on the mall block. Found at Don Mills & Lawrence, this east end mall is still a work in progress. However, you can find a number of must shop stops right now. Anthropologie just opened its first store in Canada and is one of my all time favourites. Also check out the Banana Republic, Calvin Klein Underwear, BCBG and much more! This mall is not your typical fare in that it is all outdoors so dress appropriately. Visit their website:

Hazelton LanesYorkville's answer to the shopping mall is Hazelton Lanes. Upscale is where it is at where the grocery store is a Whole Foods and no standard mall stores in sight. Make sure you have room on your credit cards you will need it here! Check out their website:
