Top 5 Hidden Malls; Toronto malls off the beaten track

Toronto`s Top 5 Hidden Malls are shopping malls that are not your obvious choice for browsing on the weekend and to those living outside the city are completely unknown.

Some Toronto malls are as famous as the city itself. The Eaton Center for its 3 floors of super malldom and flying Canada Geese. Yorkdale for its luxury and ease of access for the 905ers.

Sometimes its more fun to shop where everyone isn`t but you still want a mall, I mean who wants to trudge through Toronto streets in a snow storm

1. First Canadian Place - If you work around King West and Yonge you probably know all about First Canadian Place. That it is Canada`s tallest building (CN tower is the tallest structure) and has a huge food court connected to Toronto`s Path system. But there is shopping here too, much of it catering to the downtown business person. Harry Rosen, Josef, Gap and Sisely among others.

2. Holt Renfrew Center - When you step off the Yonge Subway line at Bloor you enter an underground mall maze. And if you don`t go outside at the first chance you get you will wander through a mall connected to the stores above on Bloor Street. The Holt Renfrew Center is also connected to the Manulife Center and the Bay.

3. Yonge Eglinton Center - This mall also starts as you step out of the subway this time at Yonge & Eglinton. Again don`t head up to street level at your first opportunity otherwise you will miss some of the stores. Cheap and cheesy meet you at first but as you get into the mall proper you will see an M by Mendocino, Jacob and other mall favourites.

4. Shops at Don Mills - This mall might be the best known of the top 5 hidden malls and it is definitely the newest. Opening in 2009 this is an outdoor mall with many top brands like Anthropologie and BCBG, plus Toronto mini chains like Leigh & Harlow and Mendocino.

5. Leaside Smart Center - Smart Centers are a suburban Toronto staple but you won`t find many inside the city. If you head over to Laird & McRae (just south of Eglinton) you will find a strip mall with one of the city`s best Winners plus other bix box faves like Home Depot and Sport Chek.
