The top 5 costume specialty stores are
Toronto stores that specialize in costumes that extend way beyond the
Halloween season.
Fancy Dress Parties, from Oscar Parties to a Mexico themed Cinco de
Mayo. Costumes are a fun way to change up the same old and make it into
a true novelty.
But many shops only stock costumes for Halloween. These shops sell costumes all the time!
1. Candy's Costumes
-
Candy's Costumes is a small shop on Mt. Pleasant Rd, but is open year
round. These costumes have a hand made feel to them and they specialize
in Adult costumes.
2. Kids Costumes
- I always thought I had just not found the full name of this shop, but
it is in fact just called Kids Costumes. Also found on Mt. Pleasant all
the costumes are made by the owners and the selection ranges from
toddler to 12-14 school aged children.
3. Party stores
- Party Stores may not carry the best quality costumes but they carry
extensive selection especially around Halloween. Two of the most
obvious choices are the Danforth's Its My Party and the big chain Party
Packagers (Orfus Rd & annul Halloween Stores). If you drive along the Gardiner it is also hard to miss the
Amazing Party Store which has the most extensive selection of the
lot.
4. Theater Stores
- Theater stores actually cater to the theater, movie and television
industries but also offer rentals to the public. The most expensive of
all your choices but you will also have the most extravagant costume.
Malabar (14 McCaul) and Theatrix Costume House (Geary Ave NE of Dupont & Dufferin) are two to try.
5. Ms Dress Up Costumes
- Ms Dress Up Costumes is an online retailer and supplier except for
once a year when they set up a pop up shop for Halloween. You can find
the 2010 shop on Dundas opening Sept 23rd. If you live in Toronto you
can pick up orders at their head office instead of having them shipped.
Honorable mentions go to Pottery Barn and Old Navy which stock
children's
costumes annually for Halloween. Shop quickly though because these sell
out FAST.
