SexyPlus Clothing owner Stefanie Augusteijn has opened her first stand alone boutique.

After collecting a serious following of customers online and through special shopping shows  she knew it was time to open a storefront retail location.

Stefanie started this boutique because she herself was tired of being ignored by the general retail landscape.

And it shows in her boutique. There aren't any moo moos or matronly clothing to awkwardly hide curves.

Instead you will find a range of pretty, fun and even wildly affordable clothing that embraces a larger, curvier figure.
 


One of the first things I noticed when I walked into the store was how easy it was to walk around. This is important when dealing with a plus customer as tight displays and over crowded stores can be extremely hard to shop.

Even the change rooms are inviting and large. So no more trying to awkwardly change in something smaller than a washroom stall.


The selection was impressive as well. Ranging from fun casual weekend wear, to work appropriate day dresses from Joseph Ribkoff and plus size special occasion dresses.

Its the type of shop where you can find a great dress for a beach vacation or a fun top for a night out.


Still Stefanie appreciates that it is unlikely that a customer is going to build their entire wardrobe at her store. So she focuses on what she does best; making a plus woman feel feminine and sexy.



One of the special things Stefanie does for her customers is provide a true size of all the items in the store.

There is nothing more frustrating that trying on an article of clothing that you assume is your size from the numbers on the tag and finding out you need to go up a size or two.

This means you should check out the store tag as well as the retailer's sizing to understand whether the brand fits small or is true to size.

It was through this that I noticed that the store actually starts at size 12, which embraces what Stephanie has on her sign outside. That her store is filled with fashion for women with curves.
