Scotch and Soda has newly emigrated to Canada
from Amsterdam.
This store takes a European twist on American Varsity style that is
very familiar to us from stores like American Eagle, Abercrombie and
Holister.
The result is a grown up more sophisticated version of casual weekend
wear that is age appropriate for those who have left post secondary
education far behind.
Scotch & Soda is actually made of three brands, including mens,
women's (Maison Scotch) and kids (Scotch Shrunk). Women's and Men's is
carried at the first Scotch & Soda Toronto location at Sherway
Gardens.
The clothes are definitely best fit for casual weekend wear. Somehow
they make the ironic statement tee seem classy (or classier?).
Expect to see an abundance of cargo pants, cozy sweaters, henleys and
jeans.
Although I am sure those in their teens and early 20's will shop here,
the feel is a bit more grown up than that; I think someone in their
late 20's and 30's would enjoy this store.
Prices are reflect the fact that the items are more sophisticated,
expect to pay more for that statement tee.
There were some items that I was really drawn to; in particular the
French inspired striped tees, the tiger striped sweater and woven tops.
There were even tunic style flannel tops similar to those most recently
seen on Katie Holmes. There were also some beautiful vegetable dyed
leather bomber jackets.
One of the things I noticed when I first walked into the Sherway
Gardens Scotch & Soda was how similar the smell was to
Abercombie. If you still love the collegiate look, but want to to better
reflect your age and station in life I suggest taking a look at Scotch
& Soda's Toronto store.
***Update for 2011; there is now a second store at the EatonCenter***
