I made this for you - that is the slogan of the
Sara Duke Factory Store in Bloordale.
And she does make it all herself. In fact she has a booming made to
measure business as well has her off the rack items you find in the
store.
Fashion designer slash master seamstress, Sara Duke makes young girly
pieces that are sold at her Factory Store plus a few other outlets in
the city like Coal
Miners Daughter.
Sara's designs are the type that you could see walking through Trinity
Bellwoods in West Queen West.
The crop tops have an 80's
vibe whereas the racerback tank dresses are a bit 90's in feel.
Even though the pieces have an influence from the past the fabrics and
styling make them feel very current.
While the pieces at the Factory Store work well together I can see them
shining on their own.
The printed skirts would look great with a chambray top, whereas the
crop tops would be great with a pair of high waisted 70's inspired
jeans.
You can't miss the accessories either. There are a selection of vintage
belts and contemporary jewellery from other Toronto designers. I have
been obsessed with getting my own oversized wood bead necklace from
Nicola Chong.
Bloordale isn't exactly brimming with shops but it is a vibrant
neighbourhood. You can find the Factory Store at 1244 Bloor
West between Dufferin & Lansdown.
Other stores in the area are 69 Vintage Collective, Ping Pong (vintage)
and Captains Treasures.
