Queen West Neighbourhood Shopping
Queen West shopping has
been synonymous with hip since
Canadian designers and cool indie boutiques set up shop in the
eighties.
Though
it’s gotten more commercial and the more influential fashion has move
further
west (and east!) this area is still big with the twenty something
crowd.
This strip of Toronto shopping is crammed full of mall stores, street
kids,
teens waiting for a glimpse of their favourite pop star in front of
Much Music and tourists.
In the
summer the portion of Queen, west from University to Spadina will be
full of
people and you better show up early if you are looking for a table on
the patio
of any of the famous bars (the Rivoli or the Horseshoe anyone?)

Further west you will find the fashion district with fabric, buttons
and bead
stores. Then even further west you enter the art and design district and then Parkdale
where
many of the independent boutiques have re-emerged.
