Pediped shoes; the next best thing to bare feet
When our children first learn to walk we are all
struck by the same thought; what shoes are good for their little feet?
It was this question that founded the brand of
pediped
shoes.
When Angela and Brian Edgeworth started researching what shoes their
new daughter should be wearing they found out that actually nothing at
all is the best for new walkers. But shoes are a must at least some of
the time, especially in our unpredictable Canadian weather, leather
soles
are the next best thing.
It was with this that the former Toronto couple set out to create a
shoe

that has now become the fastest growing and second largest
childrens footwear company in the US. Pedipeds are also the first
childrens shoe to be awarded the seal of approval form the American
Podiatric Medical Association.
My own experience with pediped is two fold. My daughter's very first
pair
of shoes were pediped. I received them as a shower gift from a friend
who lives in Vancouver. She sent out these
adorable pink polka dotted
pedipeds and I was over the moon.
But since they were in the 6-12 month size my daughter didn't really
wear them much
once she started walking. That being said what I did love
about the pediped brand right away (aside from the cute factor) was how
incredibly light they were.

The
soles of the Originals line of pediped shoes are made from two layers
of quality slip resistant leather plus a soft foam insert. The leather
is hand stitched to allow the foot to breathe. The leather allows new
walkers, who tend to shuffle as they are learning to co-ordinate their
legs and feet, to avoid tripping over extra grippy soles.
Fast forward 6 months and I was contacted by pediped. I was sent a
brand new pair of 18 - 24 month
Originals Kaylee shoes. Now my
daughter is running around effortlessly in her funky gold sandals.
I did notice this time around that the shoes run large and that it
might be a month before these shoes fit more optimally. Keep this in
mind when shopping for your pediped shoes.
The Originals line runs from 0-24 months but pediped has a second line
for toddlers and children called Flex which offers a more substantial
sole for older more confident walkers. Flex styles also come in machine
washable DRYZ technology. Flex shoes range from funky sneakers
to pretty sandals and boy am I excited for when my daughter will be old
enough to fit into the next pediped line!
You can shop for pediped shoes online at
www.pediped.com
or locally in Toronto at a number of
specialty boutiques.
While I have featured a number of girls styles of pediped
Originals shoes, the
boys styles are also fantastic!
