Shopping for ladies petite clothing is more of a challenge than many people think. Taller people assume that petites can just hem pants and then everything will fit.

The truth is that petite frames require clothing that is of smaller proportion all over not just a shorter hem line.

Ladies Petite Clothing Boutiques

Muskat Brown - this Yonge & Eglinton boutique carries contemporary brands and shoes. They have a selection of petite and standard sizes. Where Muskat Brown really stands out is their selection of smaller shoe sizes (4 - 7.5).

Petite Alternative -  This Eglinton Way boutique stocks brands like Not Your Daughter's jeans and Nic & Zoe knits. Last year stock is marked down in the basement so you can always find discount petite clothing.

Petite Ladies Clothing Chains

Laura Petites - this is one of the few mall stores to exclusively cater to shorter women.

The Bay - Much like plus or maternity, the Bay offers a comparably small petite section. Unfortunately many of the newer contemporary lines do not cross over to this department.

Winners - much like the Bay, Winners has a relatively small petite section in each location, albeit some are larger than others.

Gap & Banana Republic - All Gap stores carry three lengths for their jeans and some of their dress pants. The ankle cut length works for petites but expect to still require hemming if you are much shorter than 5'4. Banana Republic has specific stores (Bloor & Eaton Center locations) that have the majority of their styles redesigned for petite ladies.

Anthropologie - While there is by no means an extensive petite selection (you will find a bit more online than in store) I have found petite designer denim here. Look for Joe's Provocateur jeans or Citizens of Humanity petite styles.

Petite Ladies Clothing in the GTA

When it comes to finding clothing that fits you might be willing to drive a bit. These are two stores that cater ONLY to petite women and they are just a stones throw away in the GTA.

Especially Petites (Oakville)

Naturally Petite (Richmond Hill) - This store stocks tonnes of premium denim plus brands like Nic + Zoe, Donna Rico. Lafayette 148 and Brax.
