Labour of Love; a new Cabbagetown shop

Labour of Love is the second bricks and mortar store from Shopaganda.

The store is meant to be a bit more mature, sort of like an older sibling to the original Yonge St. location, Propaganda that is now 10 years old.

Novelty cards and gifts are still available but the gallery style space also offers a selection of jewellery from Canadian designers and exhibition space for artists.



Really unique gifts is what you will find in this shop. Its easy to browse with the open gallery style set up.

The store isn't overwhelming either. Its easy to take it slow and take it all in. Merchandise is shown off as works of art instead of having too many shelves of clutter.



One wall is completely dedicated to jewellery. Lines like Canadian Biko exemplify the modern statement pieces that are available.

As you walk into the store a week after the opening you will see works by Goisa called The Study. Its kind of a dark take on Little Red Riding Hood. The art is quirky but even just one piece would be  an interesting addition to a picture wall. 

Expect exhibits like this one to continue and define this location from its sister store Propaganda.

Sure you will find vulgar birthday cards, a USB doll and books about poop, but it is the more mature gifts that still have a bit of cheek that set this store apart from the crowd of gift shops in Toronto.
