The Joe Fresh Maple Leaf Gardens location has
opened above the main level Loblaws at Church and Carleton streets in
Toronto.
This Joe store houses men's and women's fashions similar to their other
studio locations, albeit larger, throughout the downtown core.
Although die hard fans of the brand are disappointed there are no kids
fashions at this location there are so many other reasons to shop this
version of Joe Fresh.
The Joe Fresh store that has taken over the second level, along with an
LCBO, of what was once Maple Leaf Gardens has a decidedly
different feel than the stores within the Superstore or even the
smaller studio concept stores. What suburban stores have in selection this store makes up for in style.
This location could easily be mistaken for a Club Monaco, Gap or JCREW.
The store has much more polish but it could also be because it isn't
stuck between the frozen food aisle and check out lineups.
The things that you expect to find at Joe are there; inexpensive
cashmere sweaters, dirt cheap layering tees, on trend shoes and cozy
jammies.
What I found to be different were some of the more upscale items that
at most are available at the Queen & Portland location. Like
the green or orange neoprene jackets.
I find that at the grocery store I gravitate towards more of the casual
items like the denim, cords and sporty clothing.
Whereas here I found that the more polished looks stood out, my
favourite being the striped pencil skirt. I think career women on a
budget are going to love shopping at this location because it will be
easier to put together looks that are work appropriate.
The same goes for men, lots of great upscale casual looks without the
upscale price tag.
I was disappointed that there wasn't more room given to jewellery,
merely one small display before you hit the checkout lines. Also the
beauty department was non existent so makeup junkies will have to
continue to trek to one of the Superstore or suburban
locations.
Shoes were on display in a number of spots throughout the store. It
would have been nice to see a mini shoe boutique in the store with a
spot to sit down and try on the various styles.
Overall putting the joe fresh into Maple Leaf Gardens will mean that
the historic building will be teaming with life.
