The first JCREW Toronto store opened August 18th
2011 at Yorkdale Mall.
It is a ladies only clothing boutique and is the first Canadian JCREW
physical location.
For those of you who are familiar with this American brand you will
know that we have been able to order via catalog and online since the
early nineties.
The opening came along with much fanfare, both the Creative Director
Jenna Lyons and CEO Mickey Drexler were present for a party with magazine editors and fashion
industry types.
What has impressed me with JCREW's entry into Canada is that
they are not scrimping on one part of their product offering that you
find in the US.
You will be able to find their shoes and handbags, accessories,
clothing and even collection items.
The shoe boutique at the back of the store is lovely, almost like a salon style shop.
But if the stores I visited in the states are any indication of what we
will find here the full JCREW selection is only available online.
But with the official entry into Canada underway JCREW has implemented
a new flat rate shipping price of $9.95. This means it is less
important to hold out for free shipping promotions as the cost of
shipping will not vary with the size of your order.
JCREW has also promised that this Yorkdale women's store is just one of
many for Toronto let alone Canada. We should expect a matching men's
store, perhaps a flagship on Bloor and another location at the Eaton
Center at least!
If
you are like me, this physical JCREW location will make it even easier
to shop the brand because you will be able to try things on before you
buy. Even if you still order online going to the store will allow
customers to get a better feel for how pants and shoes fit before
ordering their preferred style online.
