Holt Renfrew; Toronto Shopping at its finest

Holt Renfrew is the last of the Canadian national department stores.

With three Toronto locations (Bloor, Yorkdale and Sherway Gardens), Holt Renfrew is the it destination for big time designer shopping.

The flagship location is found at 50 Bloor Street and could be described as the streets anchor tenant.

There are 4 floors including the underground, with a full service spa and two cafes. You could literally spend the day at Holts.

Owned by the Weston family of Loblaws fame, Holts is a sister store to Britan's Selfridges and Ireland's Brown Thomas.

Holt Renfrew TorontoWhy torontoShopoholic loves Holts!

There are so many reasons, but let me name a few.

The feel. Holts is never messy, never super busy.

You aren't going to be overwhelmed by a gaggal of women combing the racks for Prada pumps!

The atmosphere is one of chic sophistication. And you feel chic and sophisticated when you are greeted by the doorman.

Even if you don't buy anything it doesn't seem that disappointing as you have shopped in relative calm and you feel fancy for just being there.

The clothes. I am a believer in CPW or Cost per Wear.

If you buy something cheap because it was cheap but never wear it it is a waste of money. If you buy something expensive, but wear it to death, it was worth it.

Granted, in order to live within my budget my whole wardrobe isn't even close to only designer. You have to live within your means!

The contemporary floor is where you can find, relatively speaking of course, more reasonably priced fashions, ones you don't need an event to have an excuse to wear.

The brands you can find here are ones that herald the pages of Vogue, See by Chloe, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Seven Jeans, Habitual, Tibi, Milly, Catherine Malandrino, I could go on and on.

The Windows. Comparable to the storefronts of the big New York departments stores, Holts windows are a work of art.

Even if you don't go in, admire the windows!

The beauty department - or in other words the free makeovers. If you wander through the make up counters undoubtedly you will see someone sitting through a makeup application. It is a great way to test out product or get ready for a night on the town.
