Gaspard Toronto; Parisian fashion in West Queen West
Gaspard Toronto was brought to Toronto by Mercy
designers Jennifer Halchuk and Richard Lyle.
They wanted a home in Toronto for their label that is designed here but
was only sold abroad.
Inspired by Parisian boutiques, Gaspard is now open across from Trinity
Bellwoods park in a sleek modern space.
Gaspard is the type of shop that a woman with effortless style would
haunt. Its the type of place you find the perfect boots or bag that you
wear to death an hesitate to share where you bought them.
Gaspard isn't about basics but instead a place to shop for a different
kind of day dress or a statement coat.
You definitely need disposable income to shop here; pieces range from
$150 to $700 for some hand bags.
In fact if this shop was found in Yorkville I might be intimidated to
shop here but somehow the West Queen West neighbourhood makes the store
and its labels seem more accessible.
Brands you can find here, in addition to the owners own line Mercy, are
Indress, Ascher London, Les Prairies de Paris and Roberto Collina.
I fell for the rings shown above from Gillian Steinhardt. There are
also luscious leather bags from Jamin Puech and it girl boots from La
Botte Gardiane.
The shop is fairly small and there is only a few racks of clothing but
its unlikely that you will be shopping here in bulk anyway.
Gaspard is about finding investment pieces that you keep for years,
wear to death and whisper the name of the store to your friends when
they ask where did you get that bag, dress, bangle, or boot?
