Express Clothing is now available in Canada with
its first store outside the USA opening at Toronto's Fairview Mall.
Express clothes bring a different dynamic to our now bursting fast
fashion scene. It describes itself as a sexy sophisticated fashion
brand for work, weekend and going out.
For me it is a store that picks up trends for young men and women
without being overtly trendy.
What started 30 years ago as an offshoot of another popular US brand,
the Limited, has grown into the 6th largest retailer of women's
& mens clothing and accessories.
This store at Fairview Mall in Toronto and Limeridge Mall in Hamilton
are the first of a major expansion into Canada. The first for the brand
outside the USA.
What you can expect to find is a store that picks out trends, like this
seasons faux fur and mix them with staples that work for their
customer.
I see this store as a younger, clubbier version of Zara and a bit more
sophisticated than the playfulness of H&M. You could even call
it a grown up version of Costa Blanca or Dynamite.
The range of clothing is consistent with their corporate tag line. I
saw everything from jeans and sparkly tops to relatively inexpensive
suits and tiny dresses.
Based on your tastes you could either get your entire wardrobe here or
cherry pick the pieces that suit a particular mode; work, weekend or
going out.
Prices are in line with other fast fashion retailers. Jeans are around
$90, but even though they just opened a couple weeks ago there were
already some competitive sales advertised.
One thing that can be said about this expansion is that the men weren't
left behind to be brought along later.
Express Men appears to have a heavier focus on trendy career ware than
the weekend and going out options the women have as well.
