Downtown Toronto Shopping

I have relatives who think that Downtown Toronto Shopping consists of anything south of the 401.

In truth, Toronto can be broken up into North, Midtown and Downtown before breaking it up into smaller neighbourhoods.

While Downtown Toronto is not that vast it is bigger than you might think!

Bordered by Bloor to the north, Bathurst to the west, the Don River to the east and Lake Ontario to the south, there is alot of shopping ground covered in this area!

Breaking out the shoppable neighbourhoods within Downtown Toronto will make life easier to find where you want to actually go - where were you thinking of going when you said you were headed Downtown TO?

Yonge Dundas Square

Thanks to Kurtis Billard for this photo!

Yonge

Yonge Street south of Bloor is the touristy strip that many would associate with shopping Downtown.

The majority of the shopping is centralized around Yonge Dundas Square and the Eaton Center but walking the entire strip is worth it!

Of course, there's more to downtown Toronto than shopping. Toronto is the capital of Ontario and centre for many of the province's cultural and entertainment events.

While you are down here you might as well take in some of the many tourist attractions. Check out the Hockey Hall of Fame or the CN Tower.

Downtown Toronto also houses the city's entertainment and theater districts. There is so much to discover!

Bloor Yorkville

Bloor Yorkville is ultra sophisticated for your inner fasionista. A true shopoholic who only does designer will only shop Bloor Yorkville.

Queen West

Queen West

Queen West was once the hippest place to shop in town, now its commercial hip. But still great downtown Toronto shopping! If you want ultra cool either go further west or go east but stay on Queen.

Distillery District Toronto

The Distillery District

A mix of tourist attraction, gallery space, one of a kind shopping and gourmet restaurants. Leave all the tacky tourist spots behind.

Toronto's Distillery District is famous for the period movies that have been filmed on location, but have you seen it in person? I think it is time.

St. Lawrence Market

St. Lawrence Market and Front Street

St. Lawrence Market is a favourite of tourists and locals alike.

With over 120 vendors and a special Sunday antique market there is always something going on. Well except on Mondays when both the north and south markets are closed.

However, all the other shopping on Front Street is far game! Or just take a stroll through this picturesque neighbourhood. See the Gooderham Flatiron building, or come at night and sip vodka.

Whatever you decide this is a bustling downtown Toronto neighbourhood!
