Doll Factory by Damzels is home to the popular
Damzels line of dresses plus other lines of the same aesthetic.
Part pin up girl, very rock n roll. Damzels is very much a part of the
indie fashion scene in Leslieville.
Dresses, shoes, onsies and quirky retro novelties line the shelves at
this Queen East shop.
There is definitely a retro vibe when you walk in the store. Its like
you walk back in time to the 40's or 50's. But the pretty feel has a
hard edge.
The girl this shop speaks to is more Rizzo than Sandy.
And while my personal style is a bit more mainstream and preppy than
this shop that has novelty onsies with faux tattoo sleeves I found
plenty to draw me in.
Damzels is known for carrying an incredibly wearable selection of
dresses. Many of these taken out of context of the store are perfect
for a corporate work environment or day wedding. Wrap dresses in rich
colours are my top pick.
The front of the shop is full of novelty items. Printed baby onsies and
change purses with our favourite 80s sitcom stars.
They even have fun cowboy rain boots for those not drawn by the lure of
Hunters.
Also at the front of the shop are a selection of shoes that go
perfectly with the dresses at the back. Again the shoes have a strong
retro feel.
Accessories don't stop at shoes. There are plenty of bags and jewelery
too.
Doll Factory by Damzels is found in Leslieville between Brooklyn
and Bertmount.
They carry their house line Damzels in this Dress and are favoured by
Canadian rockers like Arcade Fire and the Donnas.
