Dixie Outlet Mall; outlet shopping on the western edge of Toronto

Dixie Outlet Mall is found just west of Toronto at the eastern edge of Mississauga past Sherway Gardens off the QEW.

Originally known as Dixie Plaza, it was built in 1956 and is the oldest mall still in operation of its kind in the GTA.

Anchored by Winners and Sears Outlet among others, Dixie Value Mall as it is also known, has been attracting new retailers to the mall like Nine West and Danier.

Many of your favourite mall stores have an outlet at Dixie, from Aldo to Aeropostal, Guess and Urban Behaviour.  

It also has a mix of stores that you  might not have seen before like Ok Kids and Style Source. 

The thing I noticed when I went shopping at Dixie Outlet Mall was that although the appearance of the mall is a bit dated, the last major renovation was in the 1980's, the stores themselves were worth the drive. 

The Winners location alone is worth the drive.

No it doesn't have the Runway section.

However some departments that don't seem to get much square footage in the city Winners stores, like toddlers and Plus, have some major selection at the Dixie location.

The other thing I liked at Dixie was the mix of stores. Many Toronto malls have the same feel because they end up having many of the same stores.

Not only can you save 30 - 70% because this is an outlet mall, you will find more than just big name chain stores.

There are a number of independent operations adding a different flavour to this mall.

These stores are fun to shop because they offer you clothing selection that won't be on every one else!

And because it is a suburban mall you have stores like Micheal's and No Frills on site which you don't see at say the Eaton Centre or Yorkdale.

For many of you this means that instead of driving all over to get errands done, you can do more of your shopping all in one place, for less money.

With a mixture of brand name outlets, dollar stores, craft stores and even a grocery store Dixie Value Mall isn't your run of the mill shopping experience. 

Sure it isn't sleek and super modern, but it offers shoppers a chance to save. And unlike many other outlet shopping malls it is entirely inside which is perfect during a Canadian winter.
