Cats Cradle Boutique; offering
cool clothing to Torontonians for decades
Cats
Cradle Boutique has been selling clothing to Torontonians since the
seventies. But this family has been in the rag trade since
the
1920's.
Found on a stretch of Young street that is better known for five
dollar tees and strip clubs, Cats Cradle is packed with fabulous
Canadian clothing.
You might miss this shop as you rush through the neighbourhood on
your way to Bloor Street but stop in and shop because like me you will
be pleasantly surprised.
I will admit it I am a sucker for a wrap dress. So every time I walk
into Cats Cradle I am like a kid in a candy store. There are so many to
choose.
Made by Toronto designer Mark Forman under his line Bionic, the wrap
dresses come in vibrant colours and fun patterns.
The majority of the lines carried at Cats Cradle are Canadian.
Suits, outerwear and day dresses are predominate at the boutique.
In addition to the dresses from Bionic, you will find outerwear and
suits from Tension and Paul Ho plus eco friendly clothing from Myco
Anna.
Prices are reasonable for Canadian design. The Bionic wrap dresses
retail for around $150 which is less than half of what you would have
to pay for a Donna Karan and still cheaper than BCBG.
Make sure to check out the basement for the real deals. Merchandise
might be off season but this is where you can find some serious sales.
So whether you are looking to support Canadian designers or just a girl
looking for a great day dress Cats Cradle should be on your list of
stores to check out.
Cats Cradle is found south of Bloor Street on the West side of Yonge.
