Baby
on the Hip was the reason I started shopping in Leslieville.
I liked the premise of a baby boutique that had an eco-friendly
focus.
Plus I had spent so much time window shopping on their website that I
wanted to see everything from the cutie patootie baby and kids clothing
to the stroller accessories.
Now every time I visit the store I am amazed at how much new stuff I
find. From maternity wear and slings to cloth diapering, bottles and
tip toey joeys I have found so much to love at this
Leslieville baby boutique.
***Update*** there is now a second location on College Street in Little Italy.
Even though this baby boutique is eco-friendly right down to the toys
that they carry doesn't mean it is ultra modern.
It is one of those stores where you want to buy everything in sight.
And it has blossomed into a full service boutique where you can shop
for a stroller and nursery decor in the same space as toiletries and
diaper creme.
You might have seen them at other stores but there is the biggest
selection of Blabla's in the city! Small ones and giant ones.
Toronto's Cate & Levi animals and puppets are also found here.
One of my absolute favourite lines carried in the store is the shoe
line from Tip Toey Joey. My daughter has 2 pairs of these
shoes and they are fabulous.
They are perfect for babies learning to walk as the shoes are light and
super flexible.
One corner of the shop houses all the clothing from newborn to toddler.
With the closure of Kids on the Hip I asked one of the co-owners Cheryl
if they would be dedicating part of the first location to bigger kids
stuff. She assured me that Baby on the Hip would carry clothing to size
3 and shoes to size 9/10.
This means that you can shop here for all your pre-schoolers needs as
well as newborns!
One of the sections that I am keeping in the back of my mind for the
future is the maternity corner. Great selections that work for
pregnancy and nursing mothers alike. Check out the line from Gogo mama.
You will also find all your soft carries from slings to ones that are
considerably more complicated. Likes like Beco, ErgoBaby and sprout
pouch slings are all carried here.
There are also a selection of strollers and prams. Everything from the
emergency umbrella stroller to full on jogging strollers. Also all the
accessories.
Check out the City Mini, Icoo and UppaBaby strollers for 2010!
This shop shouldn't just be on your radar because of its natural,
organic and eco friendly items but because it is a fab baby boutique.
